Sentence Structure A1
Two words bracket the verb. Everything else follows from where you put them, and one change in the article is the part that gets missed.
Sentence Structure — Word order, negation, questions and linking words.
ne goes before the verb, pas after it: Je ne parle pas. Il ne travaille pas. Nous ne mangons pas. The verb stays exactly where it was in the affirmative.
ne क्रिया से पहले जाता है, pas उसके बाद: Je ne parle pas. Il ne travaille pas. Nous ne mangons pas। क्रिया वहीं रहती है जहाँ सकारात्मक वाक्य में थी।
Before a vowel or a silent h, the written ne becomes n': Je n'aime pas, Il n'habite pas ici, On n'est pas d'accord. Spoken by many French people, ne is now silent altogether — but keep writing it, because it is still expected.
स्वर या मौन h से पहले लिखा हुआ ne बन जाता है n': Je n'aime pas, Il n'habite pas ici, On n'est pas d'accord। आजकल बहुत से फ़्रेंच लोग बोलते समय ne को पूरी तरह मौन कर देते हैं — पर लिखते रहिए, क्योंकि अपेक्षा अब भी यही है।
A positive indefinite or partitive turns into de after a negation: J'ai des frères → Je n'ai pas de frères. Je mange du pain → Je ne mange pas de pain. There is no exception to this.
निषेध के बाद सकारात्मक अनिश्चित या सम्मानवाचक आर्टिकल de बन जाता है: J'ai des frères → Je n'ai pas de frères. Je mange du pain → Je ne mange pas de pain। इसका कोई अपवाद नहीं है।
Je vois des baleines. → Je ne vois pas de baleines. The ne appears, the pas appears, and the article changes from des to de. Three separate rules firing at once is why negation is the first thing to slow down on.
Je vois des baleines. → Je ne vois pas de baleines. ne आया, pas आया, और आर्टिकल des से de हो गया। तीन अलग नियम एक साथ लागू हुए — इसीलिए निषेध पहली चीज़ है जिसे धीरे करना पड़ता है।
*Je ne mange pas du pain is the single most frequent A1 error. With a negation there is no "some", so there is no partitive article — only de. The same applies after any negative word: jamais, rien, personne, plus.
*Je ne mange pas du pain A1 की सबसे आम त्रुटि है। निषेध में "कुछ" नहीं होता, इसलिए सम्मानवाचक आर्टिकल नहीं होता — केवल de। यही बात किसी भी नकारात्मक शब्द के बाद लागू होती है: jamais, rien, personne, plus।
Negation is a rhythm, not two separate words: JE-ne-PARLE-pas, said on one beat. French speakers never leave a pause where pas belongs. Practise the rhythm and the grammar stops being something you think about.
Q2. Complétez : Je ne ___ pas de frère.
पूरा कीजिए: Je ne ___ pas de frère.
Réponse : ai
💡 avoir reste inchangé sous la négation : je n'ai pas. C'est être qui change de forme : je ne suis pas.
Q3. Negatez : Il parle bien.
नकारात्मक कीजिए: Il parle bien.
Réponse : Il ne parle pas bien
💡 ne devant le verbe, pas après. Attention : « pas bien » garde bien après pas, car c'est un groupe figé.
