Le futur proche

Tenses & Aspect A1

Two conjugated verbs that together mean "about to" or "going to". It is the tense French actually speaks, even though the simple future exists.

The formula

aller in the present tense, then the infinitive of the real verb: Je vais manger, tu vas partir, il va venir, nous allons travailler. Conjugate only aller.

aller वर्तमान काल में, फिर असली क्रिया का अनंत रूप: Je vais manger, tu vas partir, il va venir, nous allons travailler। केवल aller का रूप बदलना है।

Where it goes in the sentence

It goes in one piece around whatever it applies to: Je vais manger une pomme. Il va partir demain. Here demain comes after it, not before. Compare: Demain, il va partir.

यह जिस पर लागू होता है उसके चारों ओर एक साथ जाता है: Je vais manger une pomme. Il va partir demain. यहाँ demain बाद में आता है, पहले नहीं। तुलना कीजिए: Demain, il va partir।

The near future and the simple future

Je vais manger = I am going to eat, right now, today. Je mangerai = I will eat, later, at some point. Both are future in meaning; the first is closer and more common in speech.

Je vais manger = मैं खाने वाला हूँ, अभी, आज। Je mangerai = मैं खाऊँगा, बाद में, किसी समय। दोनों अर्थ में भविष्य हैं; पहला निकट है और बोलने में अधिक आम है।

Everyday French

Je vais appeler = I will call (about to). On va manger = shall we eat. Where va-t-on? = where are we going. Native speakers use the near future in casual speech even when nothing is "about to" happening.

Je vais appeler = मैं फ़ोन करने वाला हूँ। On va manger = हम खाएँगे? Où va-t-on? = हम कहाँ जा रहे हैं? आम बातचीत में स्थानीय बोलने वाले निकट भविष्यत् का प्रयोग करते हैं, भले ही कुछ "जाने वाला" न हो।

Conjugating both verbs

*Je vais mange is the standard error. Only aller is conjugated; the second verb stays in the infinitive. This catches people who learned English "to go to eat" structure too literally.

*Je vais mange आम त्रुटि है। केवल aller का रूप बदलता है; दूसरी क्रिया अनंत रूप में ही रहती है। जिन लोगों ने अंग्रेज़ी की "to go to eat" संरचना बहुत शाब्दिक रूप से सीखी हो, वे इसी में फँसते हैं।

Use it as your default future

For months, build every future sentence with aller. It reuses the present endings you already know, so you gain a whole tense for the cost of one irregular verb instead of four.

कई महीने तक हर भविष्यत् वाक्य aller से बनाइए। इसमें वही अंत हैं जो आप पहले से जानते हैं, इसलिए आप चार अनियमित क्रियाओं के बजाय एक के खर्च पर पूरा काल हासिल कर लेते हैं।
