Le présent — premier groupe

Verbs & Conjugation A1

Take the infinitive, drop the -er, add the ending. It sounds almost too easy, because three things can interrupt it — and all three are worth knowing on day one.

Verbs & Conjugation — Verb groups, stem changes, the passe compose and irregular verbs.

Leçon

The basic rule

parler → parl. Then add e, es, e, ons, ez, ent. The stem never changes for a plain -er verb, which is why this group covers most of the language.

parler → parl। फिर e, es, e, ons, ez, ent जोड़िए। साधारण -er क्रिया में stem कभी नहीं बदलता, इसीलिए इसी समूह में भाषा का सबसे बड़ा हिस्सा आता है।

The -ger rule: a soft e appears

Before a vowel that would make the g hard, French writes an extra silent e: manger → je mange, nous mangeons, ils mangent. Notice the absence of it before i and before ent.

जिस स्वर से पहले g कठोर हो जाए, वहाँ फ़्रेंच एक अतिरिक्त मौन e लिखता है: manger → je mange, nous mangeons, ils mangent। ध्यान दीजिए कि i से पहले और ent से पहले यह नहीं आता।

The cedilla rule, seen from its own table

The same trigger as -ger, but with a c instead of a g: commencer → je commence, nous commençons, ils commencent. Compare commencer with manger and notice that only the nous line changes.

यही नियम, पर g की जगह c: commencer → je commence, nous commençons, ils commencent। इसकी तुलना manger से कीजिए और देखिए कि केवल nous वाली पंक्ति बदलती है।

The -yer rule: the y becomes i

essayer → j'essaie, but nous essayons and j'essayais. The y turns into i only where a silent e would follow it — before je, tu, il and ils, never before nous, vous or any imperfect ending.

essayer → j'essaie, पर nous essayons और j'essayais। y का i होता है केवल वहीं जहाँ उसके बाद मौन e आता है — je, tu, il और ils से पहले, कभी nous, vous या किसी भी imparfait अंत से पहले नहीं।

The three interruptions side by side

je mange, je commence, j'essaie. Three different problems, one extra letter each, and the pattern is always "add a letter so the previous one stays soft".

je mange, je commence, j'essaie। तीन अलग समस्याएँ, हर बार एक अतिरिक्त अक्षर, और ढर्रा हमेशा यही है — "पिछला अक्षर मृदु रहे, इसलिए एक अक्षर जोड़ो"।

Writing mangeons without the soft e

Mangeons, changions and *commençons are the three most frequent spelling errors in French homework. The rule is simple: before i and before ent, no soft letter; before anything else, one.

*Mangeons, *changions और *commençons फ़्रेंच के गृहकार्य में सबसे आम वर्तनी त्रुटियाँ हैं। नियम सरल है: i से पहले और ent से पहले मृदु अक्षर नहीं; बाकी हर जगह एक।

What the exam tests

DELF A1 conjugation exercises are almost entirely group 1. Being able to produce any -er verb in the present without hesitating is the highest-value five minutes of practice at this level.

DELF A1 के रूप परिवर्तन अभ्यास लगभग पूरी तरह प्रथम समूह पर होते हैं। इस स्तर पर किसी भी -er क्रिया को वर्तमान काल में बिना सोचे बना लेना सबसे ज़्यादा लाभदायक पाँच मिनट का अभ्यास है।
