Nouns, Articles & Gender A1
un, une and des introduce something the listener has not met before. French also uses des in front of an adjective where English uses no article at all.
Nouns, Articles & Gender — Every noun has a gender, and the article must agree with it.
un before a masculine noun, une before a feminine noun, des before any plural. Like the definite article, un loses its n before a vowel: un ami, un homme.
पुल्लिंग संज्ञा से पहले un, स्त्रीलिंग से पहले une, और किसी भी बहुवचन से पहले des। निश्चित आर्टिकल की तरह, स्वर से पहले un अपना n खो देता है: un ami, un homme।
After an adjective that comes BEFORE the noun, des turns into de: de bons résultats, de petites maisons, de vieux livres. After a following adjective it stays des: des résultats bons. Learners get this backwards more often than any other article rule.
संज्ञा से पहले आने वाले विशेषण के बाद des के स्थान पर de आता है: de bons résultats, de petites maisons, de vieux livres। विशेषण बाद में हो तो des बना रहता है: des résultats bons। यह नियम किसी भी दूसरे आर्टिकल नियम से ज़्यादा उल्टा समझा जाता है।
"I like good films" is J'aime les bons films. The plural definite article and the indefinite des both appear in one short phrase, and neither has an English equivalent in that sentence.
"I like good films" का फ़्रेंच है J'aime les bons films। उस छोटे से वाक्य में बहुवचन निश्चित आर्टिकल और अनिश्चित दोनों आ गए, और अंग्रेज़ी में इस वाक्य में दोनों का कोई बराबर नहीं है।
"Two women" is deux femme, never deux un femme. And "some students" is des étudiants, while "the students" is les étudiants — the distinction English marks with "some" has no single French word but does have a clear choice between des and du.
"Two women" का *deux femme बनता है, *deux un femme कभी नहीं। और "some students" है des étudiants, जबकि "the students" है les étudiants — अंग्रेज़ी में "some" जो भेद दिखाता है, उसका फ़्रेंच में कोई एक शब्द नहीं है, पर des और du के बीच स्पष्ट चुनाव है।
DELF A1 writing marks every wrong article, and de / du / des is the single most tested distinction at this level. Practise writing three sentences a day with articles attached to every noun until it stops needing thought.
DELF A1 के लेखन में हर गलत आर्टिकल के अंक काटे जाते हैं, और इस स्तर पर de / du / des का भेद सबसे ज़्यादा परीक्षित होता है। हर संज्ञा के साथ आर्टिकल लगाकर रोज़ तीन वाक्य लिखिए, जब तक सोचने की ज़रूरत न रहे।
